Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart is the best coach in the nation right now.

The man has won two straight national championships and he might be on the verge of winning a third. You can't deny the accomplishments, even if it's in large part because he has better players than everyone else.

But my goodness, is he insufferable. And after his latest comments, he might be delusional, too.

Smart has somehow convinced folks in Athens — players and fans — that there are people doubting Georgia football.

Of course, this is nothing new. A year ago, after beating TCU in the national championship game, Georgia claimed that everyone doubted them from the start of the season and thought the Bulldogs would go 7-5 in 2022.

That was a gigantic lie from Smart, a man who doesn't appear to live in realty. He can just spout off whatever nonsense he wants, even though it's not rooted in facts or truth (but he wins football games, so folks in Georgia overlook that character flaw), and Bulldogs fans just eat it up.

On Friday, Smart was back at it again. He suggested, again, on The Pat McAfee Show that everyone is doubting Georgia (simply not true) before saying, somehow with a straight face, that the playoff rankings haven't come across his desk.

Kirby, brother, you're not fooling anyone. We all know you make up stuff to use as motivation. Do you really think anyone believes that you haven't seen the rankings? Or that you're not using the fact that Ohio State is ranked No. 1 as motivation for your team? Are we supposed to believe that you'll straight up lie to make up reasons to motivate your team but you won't use the playoff rankings?

Delusional.

But wait, there's more.

Smart then went on this weird mini-rant where he made it out like Georgia is in a championship-level battle in the SEC every single week before issuing an invitation for non-SEC teams to call SEC commissioner Greg Sankey if they want to play UGA (that's not how it works, Kirby).

Georgia has played two ranked teams this season. One of them (Kentucky) is no longer ranked and the other one (Missouri) was the benefactor of a breezy early season schedule. So I'm not sure what Smart is bragging about when it comes to the SEC schedule that the Bulldogs have played this season.

Smart wins a lot of football games, but he's a bizarre individual. But I guess that's appropriate for a fan base full of grown adults that bark at each other.

Strange stuff down there in Athens.
