The Baltimore Ravens had a difficult time containing Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson on the ground in Week 10.
Watson ran the football just eight times in the divisional matchup, but he wound up making the most out of each rush attempt. He tallied 37 rushing yards against the Ravens, with 16 of them coming on a run in the fourth quarter that helped set up kicker Dustin Hopkins’ game-winning 40-yard field goal.
The Ravens had their sights set on not letting Watson have his way on the ground, so it was "disappointing" to head coach John Harbaugh to see the team’s defense struggle to do just that in the contest.
"A big part of the emphasis in the plan was to keep him in the pocket, retrace [and] tackle him coming back on the middle," Harbaugh said during his postgame press conference. "When he took off — we call it the front door — that's when he ran, and we didn’t want to let him get out of there, but he still did it. So, that’s something that was disappointing."
Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton, who opened up the scoring in the game with an 18-yard pick-6, credited Watson for keeping Baltimore's defense on its heels with game-changing plays when out of the pocket.
"Was just tough to get [them] down at times, and [Deshaun Watson] did a good job getting out of the pocket," Hamilton said after the game. "Credit to them."
The Browns rushed for 178 yards against the Ravens, which is the most that the current AFC North leaders have allowed this year. Baltimore now holds a 100.5 rushing yards allowed per game average on the season.
Baltimore will next be in action on Thursday when it hosts the Cincinnati Bengals.
