Another day, another brutal loss from the Buffalo Bills.
A last-second field goal from Wil Lutz as time expired handed Buffalo another crushing defeat. What makes matters worse is that Lutz initially missed the field goal, allowing Buffalo to sneak out with a victory before officials threw the flag for too many men on the field.
With the loss, Buffalo's playoff chances are dwindling as they now sit at .500 for the season with the third-hardest schedule remaining and far more questions than answers, especially on the offensive side of the football.
Bills Mafia is rightfully furious after another piss poor performance for a team that has been preaching complimentary football for weeks, but not showing it on the field. Immediately after the contest, Sean McDermott opened up to the media about the team's struggles as of late.
You can find McDermott's remarks beginning at the 17:32 mark in the video below.
Speaking on the inexcusable loss (a reporter's words, not mine, although I do agree), McDermott started off with his normal rhetoric, "Absolutely. We practiced three times that this week, the substitution from dime to field goal block, and at the end of the day we didn't execute it. It's inexcusable."
The head coach was asked about his thoughts on the offense after yet another abysmal effort, "I thought at times we moved the ball. Not enough though. I think it can be better, I really do."
McDermott opened up on the current state of the team, "I don't think everything we're doing is wrong. There's some good football being played and some good football being coached. That said, it needs to be better." He continued, "You can't turn the ball over and you can't start by giving the team their starting field position at the minus 40-yard line. That's not how you win in this league. We've got to play better and move the football, score points on a more consistent basis"
From what sounded like an ominous warning to Ken Dorsey, "We'll address what we need to address moving forward… The tough conversations are going to be had."
Bluntly, McDermott provided an update we've all been waiting on, "I think I need a little bit of time here after the game to assess that. Obviously, I'm not real happy right now so I'll evaluate that within the next 24 hours here and see where it takes us."
While it was rather an ominous threat, we will wait and see what comes of it. McDermott repeatedly talked about it not being good enough, but that's been the case for the past few weeks.
The team doesn't have a lot of time to turn things around. If changes need to be made, they must be made quickly.
