The Green Bay Packers beat the Los Angeles Chargers, and scored more than 20 points for the first time since week 2. It's been a tough stretch, but the Packers finally played a more consistent offensive game, and that was in big part because quarterback Jordan Love had the best game of his young career for the second consecutive week.
The Packers trusted Love to be the leader of the team this week, with a pass-heavy gameplan, and the first-year starter delivered with a strong performance — the first 300-passing yard game for a Packers quarterback since 2021, breaking the curse after 31 games.
Green Bay ended up forced to throw a lot with the injuries to Aaron Jones and Emanuel Wilson, but Jordan Love said the idea was always to throw a lot.
"We knew coming into it, we were gonna lean on the pass game a little bit," Love said after the game. "Just going against a familiar defense that we know, we can take advantage of them in a couple of ways and we did that. You gotta stick to the gameplan right there, it's the next man up."
The coach is happy
Matt LaFleur praised Love's performance, but mostly his attitude to lead a young offense to a strong performance.
"Really proud of Jordan," the head coach mentioned. "The poise that he showed, the leadership that he showed. He made some big-time plays."
Jordan Love finished the game completing 27 of 40 passes to 322 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He did have two fumbles, but the Packers were able to recover both of them — one was recovered by Love himself.
The Packers improved to 4-6 in the season, but they still have two big challenges ahead. On Thursday, Green Bay goes to Detroit to face the Lions on Thanksgiving. After the minibye, they play the Super Bowl defending champions Kansas City Chiefs at Lambeau Field. If they can win at least one of these two games, the playoffs will still be a feasible consideration.
The final five games of the Packers schedule are against the New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears.
