The outside calls for the Pittsburgh Steelers to fire offensive coordinator Matt Canada grew louder following their road loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 11.

The Steelers did not have much to go their way on offense against Cleveland. The Kenny Pickett-led Steelers offense reached the red zone just once in the divisional contest, and overall, Pittsburgh scored 10 or fewer points for the fourth time this season.

The Steelers have so far decided against parting ways with Canada, and their stance on this matter will reportedly not change this year. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini noted last month that Pittsburgh has no plans to fire Canada during the season.

Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger questions whether firing Canada would even be the right call at this point in the season, especially considering that Pittsburgh is currently holding a playoff spot in the AFC.

"It’s like this new thing now, right?" Roethlisberger said on his “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger" podcast. "It’s ‘Fire Matt Canada,’ this, that, and the other. I don’t know if that’s the answer.

"Again, people have to understand if it happens, if you fire Matt Canada right now, what does that look like? The team is in the playoffs. I mean, right now we’re in the playoffs. We’re 6-4. So, I think they need to probably look at themselves in the mirror as an offense and figure out what they need to do and what they can do, how they can get better."

The Steelers hold the No. 7 seed in the AFC. A loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12 would drop Pittsburgh out of the playoff picture in the AFC.
