Philadelphia Eagles rookie defensive tackle Jalen Carter only continues to plead his case for 2023 Defensive Rookie of the Year.
On Monday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs, Carter made an incredible attempt to intercept a routine spiked ball from Patrick Mahomes at the end of the second half.
While he wasn't successful, his effort was brilliant as he came pretty close to making – what could have been – one of the greatest plays of all time.
With Carter's unsuccessful attempt, Mahomes was able to stop the clock on the spike in order to set up a 43-yard field goal attempt for Harrison Butker. Butker then made the field goal to give the Chiefs a 17–7 lead at halftime.
Carter has been a major and surprising bright spot on this Eagles defense. Heading into Week 12's matchup against Kansas City, the Eagles' 2023 first-round pick ranked third on the team with four sacks and fourth with seven quarterback hits.
