Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young led a game-winning drive Sunday.

He drove the Panthers 86 yards on 15 plays, with the outcome being a field goal by Panthers kicker Eddy Pineiro, giving the Panthers a 15-13 victory at home.

Following the game, Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen, who hauled in eight catches for 72 yards, praised Young for his poise with the game on the line. It is a trait, not many rookie quarterbacks can say they have.

"When you’re in the huddle, sometimes it’s not even the fact what he said. It’s just the fact that the confidence," Thielen said via David Newton of ESPN. "You can say all you want, but when you feel the energy, and when you feel the kinda confidence, it gives you confidence that hey — he’s gonna dish it.”

For the game, Young finished with 235 yards, completing 22 of his 31 passes. He also threw for an early touchdown in the contest and overall looked more comfortable in a simplified Thomas Brown-led offense.

The game was a duel between C.J. Stroud and Young. It is safe to say Young got the better of him in round one. So, at least for the foreseeable future, the Stroud comparisons should stop.

On the game-winning drive, Young connected with Thielen on a clutch fourth down conversion near midfield, keeping the Panthers' hopes at victory alive a little longer.

In the end, Young's leadership earned him the game ball. He described the moment as something near a dream scenario. Moving forward, Panthers head coach Frank Reich believes the team can take building blocks for the performance against the Texans and take a realistic step forward.

Young's confidence, which Thielen spoke of, undoubtedly helps.
