Bryce Young is never satisfied.

After the Carolina Panthers dispatched the Houston Texans 15-13 at home Sunday, he explained that though he was excited to win the first game of his NFL career, there is still so much more he wants to accomplish during his rookie season.

"Wins aren’t easy to come by in this league," Young said. "It’s great to get on the board, it’s great to get one in. But at the same time, there’s a lot of stuff that we still can get better at, still can improve at. And we don’t want to be the team that got a win in Week 8. We have to keep building off this."

Of the things the Panthers can improve on include keeping Young upright. Though the Panthers won, the rookie quarterback was under pressure all game. The offensive line gave up six sacks. For context, coming into the week, the Texans were ranked last in the league in sacks with nine. They nearly matched their season total in one afternoon in Charlotte.

Young still managed to pass for 235 yards on 22 completions in 31 tries and a touchdown. He also led a game-ceiling 86-yard drive that culminated in a game-winning field goal. On that drive, he made a series of plays, including a fourth down throw to Adam Thielen, to keep the Panthers' hopes alive.

After the game, Panthers head coach Frank Reich said Young made the "clutch plays' the team needed.

And Thielen praised Young for having confidence and composure in a situation that would have discombobulated most rookie quarterbacks.

"You love opportunities like that," Young said of his game-winning drive. "You go in, you have a chance to win the game on your own terms and to try and go out and take the game."

But Young is never one to rest after one positive result. Like Reich, the rookie wants to build on a performance that he feels is only scratching the surface of his potential.

"It’s great," Young said. "[But] it's just one win. Week 8. One win."
