In the NFL, injuries are never a 'good' thing. The players human beings, not robots, and no one should want someone to sustain an injury, especially a serious one.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending injury in Week 9, though. According to head coach Brian Daboll, Jones tore his ACL and will miss the remainder of the season for the Giants.

For New York, the news is tough. They are losing the QB they just signed to a massive extension in the offseason as well as a team leader.

That being said, the NFL is a business. It's business where results keep jobs.

The best result for the Giants in the long-term may be to get one of the top two quarterbacks in this year's NFL draft class: Caleb Williams or Drake Maye.

Losing Jones for the rest of the season will absolutely help that case. New York will most likely turn to rookie Tommy Devito, who has struggled in his playing time with Jones and backup Tyron Taylor out. Taylor is currently on injured reserve.

After Week 9, the Giants (2-7) are projected to get the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

With Devito or another band-aid at QB for the rest of the season, the Giants may be looking at a pick that's even better than that. In order to secure Maye or Williams, they will probably need a top three selection.

So, to recap, injuries are never a good thing in specific. A player is a person, and rooting for injuries should never be on the table.

From a team future standpoint, having a QB behind Jones start the rest of the season may give New York their best chance to make an upgrade at QB just an off-season after handing out a questionable extension to Jones. Only time will tell.
