Last week, there was plenty of concern about Trent Williams' injured ankle. Now any such worries look to be a thing of the past as the San Francisco 49ers head into their Week 11 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Williams, the 49ers' All-Pro left tackle, made his return from a two-game absence last week to help the Niners crush the Jacksonville Jaguars 34-3 and end a three-game losing streak.

It followed a week in which he practiced twice in a limited capacity and was described as "real questionable" by head coach Kyle Shanahan. Williams made the decision to play despite afterwards describing his ankle as being at "75-80 percent". This week, he appears to be much closer to 100.

49ers Injury Report

Injury report observations

Williams practicing in full following a veteran's rest day on Wednesday indicates that the ankle is becoming much less of a problem, and he said as much to ESPN's Nick Wagoner.

"No, it's already getting a lot better," Williams said to Wagoner when asked if the ankle injury is something he expects to deal with for the remainder of the season.

While there is no doubt Williams will play against the Buccaneers on Sunday, the 49ers' situation at right tackle is still in question..

For the second straight day, starting right tackle Colton McKivitz was limited as he battles ankle and knee injuries.

That McKivitz is healthy enough to once again practice in some capacity is a positive. The 49ers, though, do have two viable insurance policies in swing tackle Jaylon Moore and veteran Matt Pryor, and that could lead San Francisco to elect not to risk him and give the 2020 fifth-round pick more time to recover for the Thanksgiving clash with the Seattle Seahawks.
