The Kansas City Chiefs had a blast on Sunday against the Chicago Bears. It was the perfect game for them to get on track the way they needed to. They needed an offensive performance like the one they displayed. The 41-10 massacre allowed players to show their worth in the best way.
Several player's stocks rose on Sunday. Players on defense, offense, and special teams showed what they can do and how they are of valuable use to this team. Everyone pulled their own weight.
Of course, we can name guys like Travis Kelce, who had a huge bounce-back game and also put on for his new girl. Patrick Mahomes had a near-flawless game, and Chris Jones did what he always does. However, we know about those guys. Let's, instead, shine a light on some of the guys you may not have noticed.
Here are the three winners from the Chiefs' huge win over the Bears:
Chiefs winners
Drue Tranquill, LB: Tranquill was tasked with taking on a huge role on Sunday. With the Chiefs' second or third-best defensive player out of the game in Nick Bolton, it was time for Tranquill to get more reps finally. He stepped into the role of the green dot on defense, or the quarterback of that side of the ball, and did not disappoint.
Tranquill finished his start with half a sack and led the team in tackles. He was all over the field. Wherever the ball was, it seemed like No. 23 was not far behind them. Tranquill was more known for his ability to play in coverage as a linebacker, but on Sunday, he proved he can play a bit of Mike, too.
Rashee Rice, WR: The rookie wide receiver has had a tough welcome to the NFL so far, but so did Skyy Moore last season. However, Rice had his breakout moment much earlier than Skyy Moore. This Sunday was just that for Rice. Rice had trouble getting on the field for some reason. On Sunday, he was made a focal point at times, as he played a career-high in snaps.
He still dropped some balls, like most rookies will, but he almost had two touchdowns, as he fell at the one-yard line twice on the same play designed for him. His five-catch, 59-yard game, though, was great.
Montrell Washington, WR/PR: The former Denver Bronco wasn't utilized right in that awful offense last season. And, yet, the Chiefs got him on a steal, signing him to a practice squad deal. He played this week as Richie James was put on IR.
But Washington, who is in his second year as a former fifth-rounder, played very well. Washington had three really good punt returns where he showed flashes of hitting holes at a great speed. But he had one that was 23 yards, and he was a few missed tackles away from a huge return.
