The Tennessee Vols made a jump in On3's latest SEC power rankings, despite their "ugly" 30-13 win against Austin Peay last Saturday.

The Vols were previously ranked No. 3 in On3's SEC power rankings. But they jumped to No. 2 (behind Georgia, who remained at No. 1) thanks to Alabama's loss to Texas in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night.

From On3: Here come the Volunteers up the rankings. They moved up a spot following a win over Austin Peay, plus Alabama losing a tough game. But Tennessee’s been lingering near the top anyway.

Joe Milton has a cannon for an arm, but that was pretty much obvious. At this rate, we’re waiting for the Tennessee-Georgia matchup to determine supremacy in the SEC East and the top of the conference.

It sounds like On3's confidence isn't waning in Tennessee despite the tough game against Austin Peay.

And that's probably the right attitude to take after the 17-point win against the Governors. No one would've reacted to a 45-point win by suggesting that Tennessee was suddenly the top national championship contender in the nation, so why overreact to a game against an FCS program that wasn't as visually pleasing as fans (or UT's coaches/players) were hoping it would be?

That one game is just a small snapshot of the Vols' entire season. And it certainly shouldn't define the season.
