Lamar Jackson is set to enter a game as an underdog for the 13th time in his career. The Cincinnati Bengals are currently listed as a -3 favorite in their upcoming Week 2 home matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
Jackson holds an 8-4 record (.667) as an underdog in his run with the Ravens, which is the second-best outright mark as an underdog in the Super Bowl era. For Jackson, he simply embraces being an underdog.
"I love being the underdog," Jackson said during a press conference ahead of Week 2. "I really don't care to be hyped up or people displaying that we're on top of the league. I'd rather be the underdog because we always have something to prove.
“We always have a chip on our shoulder to go out there and win a game."
Jackson featured in the Ravens’ first game against the Bengals last season but wound up missing the next two due to injury. The two-time Pro Bowler is much looking forward to squaring off with Cincinnati on Sunday.
"[It was] very tough," Jackson said. "One, I was injured. Two, I wasn't able to travel with my guys and support them. Just being out of the game, that's not something I want to do ever again.
"Going back to Cincinnati, it's a great atmosphere [and] great crowd."
Overall, Jackson boasts a 6-1 career record against the Bengals.
