Earlier on Thursday, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs underwent an MRI on his knee after suffering an injury. It has confirmed the worst fears for the All-Pro defender.
Diggs has suffered a torn ACL, ending his 2023 NFL season, Tom Pelissero from NFL Network reported on Thursday.
The Cowboys cornerback suffered the injury during a one-on-one period of practice and was later spotted in crutches in the locker room.
Diggs had been outstanding following two weeks of play with a passer rating allowed of 1.0. Against the New York Jets, he allowed no receptions in five targets. His physicality had been on full display too, making open-field tackles and continuing an upward trajectory in that area from his 2022 season.
The Cowboys signed Diggs to a five-year contract extension in July. The deal, worth $97 million in total, guaranteed Diggs' future in Dallas for the near future. Now the coaching staff will have to wait for any return on investment.
