The Seattle Seahawks seemed out of sorts on both offense and defense. Not only did the offense fail to reach the end zone for the entire first half, but backup quarterback Andy Dalton and the Panthers offense, which is one of the worst in the NFL, actually kept the game close.
Something like that can't happen, but the Seahawks were able to recover well and finished the game with a win due to a much better second half.
Messy games happen. There is very little perfect in the modern NFL. Teams are going to play down to their opponents and make life more difficult for themselves plenty.
The Seahawks have to find a way to stop this if they want to find a way to live up to their potential.
2-1 looks great on paper, especially that win over a good Lions team, but the Seahawks have yet to define their ceiling due to some questionable halves of football.
The kicking game and the defense against a bad offense were able to keep the Seahawks alive today, but it was the offense that shut the door on the game in the end.
After not scoring a touchdown in the first half, the Seahawks were able to put it all together on offense in the second half to the tune of 25 points, a number that should be the minimum for a half for such a talented offense.
Slow halves are going to happen, especially on a team that wants to run the ball as much as Seattle does, but finding ways to overcome that and score at will is what defines great teams, and the Seahawks were able to do that much today to show that they have what it takes to be great in 2023.
Big things are coming. Today showed as much.
