Finding a positive stat about Bryce Young is hard.

The rookie quarterback in two games has amassed an unimpressive 299 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and two losses.

Yikes. But the reality of Young's struggles may not be as bad as the raw game footage and initiate counting stats suggest.

Young is the best thrower when it comes to passing into open windows. He completes around 80% of his passes to open receivers. However, Young has the lowest concentration of attempts into open windows.

Part of Young's struggle to connect with open receivers has to do with a lack of separation garnered by the pass-catchers. However, Panthers head coach Frank Reich isn't willing to put the blame all on them.

Another aspect is the play calling, of which Reich has continued to stress a breakout game is coming for the Panthers offense.

Reich added: “When I look back on the tape from this game—there’s certainly gonna be corrections with the receivers on a couple things, but I thought the route running . . . obviously . . .we’re always gonna say, ‘I can coach better, everybody can play better and a couple of the routes can get better.’ But what I saw on tape was a group that I have a lot of confidence in.”

Adding to the complexity of Young's lack of production has to do with keeping the pressure off the No. 1 overall pick. The offensive line has dealt with its share of injuries. The lack of consistent play up front has forced Young to make tough decisions quicker than he would like.

Yet, somehow, though Young hasn't been impressive, he still holds an impressive stat — even when he is limited by the plays that are being called.
