The Minnesota Vikings desperately need to get into the win column. The team enters a Week 4 matchup against the Carolina Panthers with an 0-3 record.
There have been two major reasons why the Vikings have failed to win: turnovers and injuries to key players. Unfortunately, Wednesday's injury report showcased that injuries are still a problem for the Vikings in Week 4.
Marcus Davenport continues to be out with an ankle injury. The veteran edge rusher was active for the Week 2 game against the Eagles, but only played four snaps.
Garrett Bradbury continues to be limited with a back injury suffered in Week 1.
Pat Jones II, who has been splitting snaps with D.J. Wonnum in Davenport's absence, was limited on Wednesday with a knee injury.
Josh Metellus appeared on the injury report last week but ended up playing 63 snaps in Week 3. It appears the defensive back re-aggravated that shoulder injury in the loss.
Corner Byron Murphy Jr. appeared on the injury report for the first time with a hip injury. Murphy had a miserable game in Week 2, allowing 10 catches for 185 yards against the Chargers.
Harrison Phillips and Harrison Smith both received a rest day on Wednesday and should be ready to go on Sunday.
The Vikings desperately need Davenport to get healthy. The Viking defense has generated just six sacks on the season, and Danielle Hunter has five of those. If Davenport and Jones both miss, Wonnum and UDFA Andre Carter II will likely split snaps on the edge.
Be sure to check back Thursday afternoon for the latest updated injury report.
Vikings may have to start making serious decisions with key players
Kevin O’Connell admitted some changes may need to be made.
