Vikings Initial Injury Report vs. Packers: Kevin O’Connell’s team is healthier than ever, but the Packers aren’t
Things are looking great for the Minnesota Vikings going into Week 1, and the Green Bay Packers aren’t nearly as healthy.
The Minnesota Vikings are set to take on the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon.
Not only is it the first game of the season, but it’s a major rivalry game. It’s also going to be huge for the Vikings to get a win, as head coach Kevin O’Connell needs to have a successful season. The fanbase is starting to get restless, as the Vikings don’t have a playoff win since the 2019 season, when they beat the New Orleans Saints in the wild card round.
Before the game kicks off, there is the matter of who is healthy and who isn’t. The first injury report is out, and there are multiple players from both sides on it.
Vikings Wednesday injury report
| Player | Injury | W/T/F | Designation |
| S Jakobe Thomas | Illness | DNP | |
| S Jacob Thomas | Ankle | Limited | |
| OT Caleb Tiernan | Ankle | Limited | |
Observations
- This is about as good as it’ll get for the Vikings this season. Only three players on the injury report is great, especially when none of them were likely to play on either offense or defense for more than a few snaps.
- The illness designation for Jakobe could change quickly, and he could be available in Week 1.
- It’s notable that J.J. McCarthy is not on the injury report after missing the final preseason game against the Denver Broncos with an ankle injury.
Packers Wednesday injury report
| Player | Injury | W/T/F | Designation |
| DT Warren Brinson | Calf | DNP | |
| LB Ty’Ron Hopper | Achilles | DNP | |
| OL Zach Bako-Bewele | Knee | Limited | |
| OG Aaron Banks | Knee | Limited | |
| DT Javon Hargrave | Knee | Limited | |
| OL Jordan Morgan | Knee | Limited | |
| EDGE Barryn Sorrell | Foot | Limited | |
| DT Devonte Wyatt | Ankle | Limited |
Observations
- The Packers have a lot of trench players on the injury report on both sides of the football, including three starters on the offensive line. Bako-Bewele is the best player on the offensive line, and if he’s out, that could spell disaster for the Packers.
- Both Wyatt and Hargrave being potentially out is rough for the Packers, especially with Micah Parsons being out on Sunday.
