A week off may have helped Bryce Young.

After dealing with an ankle injury that held him out of action all of Week 3, the Carolina Panthers have Young back. He was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. And Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown believes the best for Young is still yet to come.

"Honestly, [Wednesday] was his best day this fall," Brown said. "The energy, the enthusiasm, coaching his guys up, O-line up front, it was the best job he's done this year, in my opinion."

Maybe the injury was a blessing in disguise for Young. He had a week to sit back, clear his head, and watch how veteran quarterback Andy Dalton ran the offense.

Dalton stepped in and pushed the Panthers offense to heights it hadn't seen this season with Young under center.

Now Young and the Panthers are planning to take the good from Dalton's performance — calling more explosive plays downfield — and carry it over to a home matchup with the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4.

In the process, however, Brown wants Young to stay true to who he is as a quarterback, he said.

Brown also mentioned that if Young should take anything from Dalton's performance last week, it should be the intangibles of what the Panthers backup did against the Seattle Seahawks: communication, energy, making plays that need to be made, and taking care of the football.

To some degree, Young appears to agree.

"Being able to be in a different perspective, being able to learn as much as I can from the sidelines, it was a good perspective to have," Young said. "I am just trying to do my part."

Young also explained that he isn't sure when the injury happened himself during the Week 2 matchup with the New Orleans Saints.

As for questions about Young's durability as a quarterback, he said he isn't worried about what everyone else has to say, adding that he only "cares about the opinions of the people in this building."

It appears that the Panthers have their starting quarterback back, and he may even be new and improved.
