The Dallas Cowboys need some outside help if they're to win the NFC East in 2023. Although they could technically reclaim the lead inn the division with a win against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14, they don't control their own destiny.

In fact, the Cowboys are likely losing a tiebreaker against the Eagles if it comes down to one. That's why, assuming Dallas wins out (a big if given their competition), they'll still need Philly to drop another game.

The problem? They've got a relatively easy schedule with the Seattle Seahawks, New York Giants (twice!), and the Arizona Cardinals left for them after Sunday night.

Realistically, the best shot at getting some outsider help is Geno Smith and the Seahawks, who recently put up 35 points against the Cowboys on national television. But can they get help from anybody else?

Maybe the Giants but they need to change quarterbacks

The Giants with Tommy DeVito aren't beating the Eagles unless we're talking about Madden. It's just the reality right now. Sure, "any given Sunday" and all that but it would take some wild football for that to be untrue.

However, with Tyrod Taylor being activated off of Injured Reserve, they might just have a shot. I'm not suggesting they'd be favorites or anything but consider the following numbers: Taylor is 18th in QB efficiency per EPA/play and CPOE, per RBSDM.

Not great? Well, it's all relative. DeVito ranks 37th in the same category. That ranks below Aidan O'Connell, Mac Jones, Tyson Bagent, Bryce Young, and Kenny Pickett. It's just bad football.

Meanwhile, Taylor has better efficiency (granted, in very limited playing time) than Matthew Stafford, Will Levis, Justin Fields, Derek Carr, and Sam Howell. Great? No. Better than DeVito? Yes.

Shockingly, the rookie is starting over Taylor this weekend, a decision that's led to some drama in New York with the veteran quarterback even refusing to comment on Brian Daboll's controversial decision.

But is that call going to hold up by the time the Giants play the Eagles? I'm betting Daboll will backtrack quite soon barring any major improvements from DeVito. And when he does, the Cowboys might just benefit with a late-season upset from the Giants.
