The Miami Dolphins were just able to demolish an AFC East opponent in a primetime (sort of?) spot, and while the win over the Jets was very impressive on both sides of the ball, a key injury once the game was already in hand casts a pall over the whole day.

The loss of Jaelan Phillips is going to sting, especially given the fact that he was on pace to have the best year of his career statistically with 6.5 sacks and an interception so far, but a team like the Dolphins can't slow down.

Great teams never lose their next-man-up mentality. As for now, that player looks like Emmanuel Ogbah, and it sure looks like he is up to the task.

Ogbah has done it all during his time in the NFL. Playing throughout the AFC and an established veteran, Ogbah has been extremely productive in a depth role as a pass-rusher and as a pass-defender.

The veteran pass-rusher has accounted for 21.5 sacks, 55 quarterback hits, 17 tackles for loss, and 18 passes defended just during his time with the Dolphins over the past four years. This is the guy that should stand the see the largest expanded role with Phillips out for the rest of the season.

This may not be a situation that most teams want to be in, but it is hard to think of a better guy that could step into the needed role as the Dolphins gear up for a playoff push.

With six games to go, that should be the perfect amount of time to get reps for Ogbah and allow him a chance to find his stride, a stride that he may not even really need to find given the fact that he already has 4 sacks and an interception on the year.

This is even further proven by the fact that Ogbah was able to step in well tonight-accounting for 1.5 sacks in a relatively-limited depth role.

Again, this isn't the best situation for a team that has a good shot at making a lot of noise in the playoffs, but having a player like Ogbah that can step up as a genuine starter should keep the wheels from falling off when it matters.
