Frank Reich's Carolina Panthers had a chance to win Sunday.

But, on fourth down, the first-year Panthers coach called a play that produced a throw from Bryce Young short of the first down marker, ending what could have been a game-tying or game-winning drive from the Panthers against the Tennessee Titans.

Panthers lose the end result of another Reich-led Sunday: 17-10.

Ahead of the game, reports came in regarding Reich's future as the Panthers head coach.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said Sunday morning the Panthers desperately want to see progress with Young and the offense.

"The Panthers surely wanna see some progress from [Bryce] Young as well as some progress from this team," he said. "Stuff to build on for both Young and this team going into 2024, after David Tepper, the owner, makes the evaluation on Reich once we get to the offseason."

Against the Titans, the Panthers saw shades of progress. Young threw for 194 yards and no interceptions. He completed 18 of 31 passes and averaged 6.4 yards per attempt.

It wasn't a great game. But it was abhorrent, like the previous three weeks. Still, the offense mustered one touchdown and 10 total points.

That won't bode well for Reich's future as an offensive head coach.

But that is the story of the 2023 Panthers. Even in more than winnable games, the team can't get out of its own way.

The same was true against the Titans. And after the Panthers' defense held Tennessee to 17 points, the offense couldn't produce a second touchdown that could have changed the complexion of the game.

It's just the same-ole, same-ole for Reich and his staff. With Tepper watching, it can't last much longer.
