The New York Giants received great news ahead of their matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

And it is sure to make Tommy DeVito very excited.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Giants have designated tight end Darren Waller to return from injured reserve. He is expected to practice on Thursday.

Sunday's game could potentially be the first game the DeVito and Waller had the opportunity to play together, after the quarterback entered the game in the second quarter just after Waller was hurt.

With Waller being sidelined for the last five games, tight end Daniel Bellinger has stepped up.

So far this season, Waller has 36 receptions on 51 targets for 384 yards and 1 touchdown.

The Giants are on an impressive run with DeVito leading the way. With a 5-8 record, their chances of making the playoffs are very unlikely, but not impossible.

The Giants traded for Waller from the Las Vegas Raiders during the offseason. He had a career season in his first year with the Raiders in 2020, finishing with 107 receptions for 1,196 yards and nine touchdowns. He spent a total of five seasons with the Raiders.

Before that, he began his career with the Baltimore Ravens, being drafted in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Across his eight years in the league, Waller has a total of 334 receptions for 3,956 yards and 20 touchdowns across 82 games played. But that total is expected to go up now that he is back on the field.

Let's see if he can help keep the success going.
