There was clearly plenty of bad blood between San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw and Philadelphia Eagles security chief Dom DiSandro during their sideline altercation on Sunday, but it no longer remains.
Greenlaw, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner, revealed he and DiSandro have apologized to each other through 49ers general manager John Lynch.
"We just exchanged a formal apology just between me and John and some of the same people that we do know that in the building and stuff like that," Greenlaw said.
"He seemed like a genuine guy. Seemed like a guy that everybody loved in the building. So, I hate that, honestly. I really hate that it even escalated and went to that."
Greenlaw was ejected during the third quarter of the 49ers' 42-19 win over the Eagles after taking a swing at DiSandro, affectionately known in Philadelphia as 'Big Dom'.
The linebacker had already been flagged for slamming wide receiver DeVonta Smith to the turf close to the Philadelphia sideline and DiSandro shoved Greenlaw during the ensuring fracas. DiSandro was also asked to leave the field.
"I felt like I shouldn't have been ejected, but I can't go back and say anything about it now," Greenlaw added.
The NFL is still reviewing the matter and on Wednesday the league sent a memo to all 32 teams, reminding them to "ensure that all members of your game-day staff understand that their role does not extend to being involved with game day altercations and that they must refrain from such involvement."
It also warned that "Under no circumstances are club personnel to engage with or make physical contact with another club’s player(s) or other personnel.”
