The list of achievements for Brock Purdy during the 2023 season continues to grow.
Last week, the San Francisco 49ers' quarterback joined Tom Brady (2007) and Aaron Rodgers (2011) in becoming only the third quarterback in NFL history to record four games with at least three touchdown passes and a passer rating of at least 140 in the same season with a superb performance in the blowout win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
On Sunday, Purdy can make more history as the 49ers host the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14, and his latest potential achievement is one that could mean a lot to him.
Purdy has 11 career games with a passer rating of 110 or higher. If he posts another against Seattle, he will tie Hall of Famer Dan Marino (12) for the third-most such games by a player in his first two seasons in NFL history.
Justin Herbert (13) and Russell Wilson (14) are the only two players above Miami Dolphins legend Marino, whom Purdy grew up idolizing because of his father's Dolphins fandom.
Purdy FaceTimed with Marino prior to the 49ers' Week 3 win during an interview with Prime Video analyst and former Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
While Purdy will remain focused on helping the 49ers achieve their ultimate goal of lifting the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season, moving level with his hero will surely bring a sense of satisfaction to a player who is second in the MVP betting behind Dak Prescott, per betonline.ag.
But that isn't the only feat Purdy could achieve on Sunday.
Should Purdy complete 70 percent of his passes versus the Seahawks, he will become only the fourth quarterback in league history to record seven such games consecutively in a single season. He would tie Drew Brees and Sam Bradford and move one game shy of tying the record streak set by Joe Montana during the 49ers' 1989 Super Bowl-winning campaign.
Kyle Shanahan gives unique praise to 49ers’ Christian McCaffrey
He has no equal in this area of the game.
