Never in a million years would I have thought that Philadelphia Eagles' Head of Security Dom DiSandro's gameday availability would be such a big deal in a December game against the Dallas Cowboys with playoff implications.
But this is where we are at.
On Saturday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that DiSandro, otherwise known as Big Dom, has been barred from being on the sideline for Week 14 versus the Cowboys.
The news is a result of last week's exchange between Big Dom and San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw. Both were ejected from the game last weekend.
DiSandro is allowed to join the team in its travel to the game and he'll even be able to execute his gameday duties other than being on the sidelines for the game. Earlier in the week, the league sent a memo insisting on non-players and non-coaches to stay away from getting involved in such exchanges.
The Eagles will surely take the NFL's decision as added motivation, especially in a week where it seems like it's the world against them: They're fresh off of a humbling loss to the San Francisco 49ers and they're underdogs for over a field goal against a Cowboys team they already beat back in Week 9.
It won't be an easy upset to pull off as the Cowboys are clicking on offense to the point that QB Dak Prescott has emerged as a legit MVP candidate. But the Eagles are 10-2 for a reason.
The game is for the temporary lead of the NFC East but even though the Eagles could become a Wild Card team in the standings with a loss, they still control their destiny entering the final stretch of the season.
Beyond the standings though, it's Cowboys vs. Eagles football. It's already huge. Big Dom's sideline ban just made it bigger, at least for Philly.
