Pittsburgh Steelers wideout George Pickens has made headlines for the wrong reasons after his poor excuse for bad effort during a play that essentially prevented a touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 15.

Pickens has taken a lot of heat and it's easy to see why. The above play happened in the first quarter, with the game still scoreless.

There was no reason for this to happen and the Tank Dell injury wasn't even the same kind of play, as Dell was in the middle of a scrum. Pickens was on the perimeter, one-on-one with a cornerback. Dudes weren't falling at his feet in the middle of the field like it happened with Dell.

Minnesota Vikings star wideout, Justin Jefferson, isn't buying what Pickens is selling, either.

"I saw the plays, but I didn't see where he said that," Jefferson said when asked about Pickens' comment. "I mean, it it all depends… there's ways of preventing that by blocking right with the technique that you use. So I mean, that's a little excuse but uh, we don't we don't live by that."

Jefferson's been a decent run blocker throughout his career and he's always been a team-first guy, so his comments don't come as a surprise. He knows every rep matters and the slightest bit of bad execution can be the difference between winning and losing.

"If you make it a focus, if you make it a priority to go out there and block for your teammates, you know, you're blocking [could] be that touchdown, that touchdown block that we need," said Jefferson.

Jefferson's comment is also a refreshing one. It's always good to hear players counter statements like the one Pickens made, especially when it's a team captain and star like the Vikings WR.
