Next month will mark three years since Danny White was hired to replace Phillip Fulmer as the Tennessee Vols' athletic director.

And the last three years have been some of the most stable years in the last two decades of Tennessee athletics. The football program has won 26 games in three seasons. The basketball team has been ranked for 45 consecutive weeks. And the baseball team is one of the most talked-about programs in the nation after winning the SEC Tournament in 2022 and making two trips to Omaha in the last three seasons.

White is doing exactly what he was hired to do. But he's still not satisfied. And that's because his ultimate goal is to win national championships — something that hasn't been done at Tennessee since 2009 (women's indoor track and field).

“Our coaches, our student-athletes come to Tennessee to win it all," said White in an interview with WBIR this week. "To win national championships, that’s why I came here. We have expectations to do that, to win, to be in the hunt for SEC Championships in the toughest conference in the country. That means you’re in the hunt for national championships.”

White's comments could hint that a change is on the way for one of the most iconic programs in the nation.

The Lady Vols haven't competed for a national championship since long before White's arrival on Rocky Top. And with the Lady Vols currently at 5-5 and seemingly trending in the wrong direction, it might not be long before White decides that Kellie Harper needs to be replaced as the program's head coach.

It's clear from White's words that he's not going to be satisfied with just reaching the NCAA Tournament. If Harper and the Lady Vols can't make a deep run in the tournament in the spring, major changes could be on the way.
