The Kansas City Chiefs are working to replace a player who was recently injured.

Practice squad TE Gerrit Prince was recently placed on the practice squad injured list with an undisclosed injury that occurred during practice. That move corresponded with the activation of LB Cole Christiansen to the practice squad. Deon Bush's addition to the 53-man roster this past weekend opened up a free space on the 16-man practice squad in Kansas City.

According to KPRC2 NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, the Chiefs are working out a pair of tight ends to replace him on the practice squad, one of whom they're familiar with.

Izaiah Gathings was signed to the 90-man roster in late July and played with the Chiefs during training camp and the preseason. He was released during 53-man roster cutdowns, but he made some pretty good plays while he was with the team.

He's probably the most likely player to be signed to the practice squad, but the Chiefs are also working out TE E.J. Jenkins. The former Georgia Tech WR-to-TE convert is a rookie who spent time with the New York Jets and the Philadelphia Eagles. He had three receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown this preseason.

Brett Veach seems to like the idea of having two tight ends on the practice squad. They already have Matt Bushman, who has been with the team for the past two seasons.

It's also worth noting here that TE Travis Kelce had a "stinger" in his elbow in Week 15 according to Andy Reid. It doesn't appear that these workouts are directly related to any injury issues there, but it's something to monitor as the team returns to practice later this week.
