Kansas City Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy’s wife, Mia Bieniemy, has been hospitalized after she was shot in the couple’s Virginia home, per ESPN.

ESPN’s Nate Taylor spoke to Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Leah Pau, who said on Monday that police arrived at a home located on the 20000 block of Northpark Drive in Ashburn, Virginia, at 7:32 p.m. ET on Sunday. The 57-year-old, Mia Bieniemy, was transported to a local hospital after police arrived.

Police confirmed that a person was being treated for “serious injuries” but did not disclose the person’s identity. It’s unclear whether that person is Mia Bieniemy at this time. Further details surrounding the incident are also unclear.

Chiefs release statement on incident involving Eric Bieniemy’s wife

Update: Coach Bieniemy has left St. Joe to go and be with his wife in Virginia. He was not at the team’s training camp practice on Monday morning.

The Chiefs said in a statement they are “aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy’s family.”

They had no further comment on the incident or Mia Bieniemy’s status.

Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy has spent the past three days in St. Joseph, Missouri, at Missouri Western State University for the team’s rookie and QB head start at training camp. He returns to Kansas City as offensive coordinator after previously serving in the role from 2018 through 2022. He also served as the team’s running backs coach from 2013-2017.

Elijah Bieniemy arrested and charged with three felonies

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office posted a release stating they were investigating a shooting in Ashburn. It includes details that Eric and Mia Bieniemy’s son, Elijah, had been arrested and charged.

Loudoun County, VA (July 27, 2026): The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is investigating a shooting that occurred on the 20000 block of Northpark Drive in Ashburn on July 26, 2026.

At approximately 7:32 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a shooting. Deputies located one adult female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. 

Elijah Zion Bieniemy, 27, of Ashburn, was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Discharge of a Firearm Inside of a Dwelling. He was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he was held without bond. 

The investigation is ongoing, and there is not believed to be any threat to the public.
