Cleveland Browns are at risk of losing one of their own in the front office.
Washington Commanders are interested in assistant general manager Glenn Cook to lead their football operations, who currently works under Andrew Berry. Cleveland would be losing a talented individual within the franchise but they would benefit in a different way. The Browns have granted permission for the interview to happen.
If it is a GM position just labeled as leading football operations, as The OBR’s Jack Duffin says below, Cleveland would receive a compensatory pick. Cook would be a minority receiving a promotion within the league.
Cleveland would gain two third-round picks in future drafts if that plays out, just like they did when the Minnesota Vikings hired Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to be their general manager.
Cook joined the Browns in 2016 as the assistant director of scouting, then became the vice president of player personnel in 2020. In 2022, Cook became the assistant GM.
With ‘Black Monday’ here for the NFL, we’re going to see plenty of movement and plenty of news. This likely won’t be the only job that Cook is in contention for. Washington is a team to watch as new owner Josh Harris has cleaned house.
Oddsmakers pick their side in Browns vs. Texans playoff game
Cleveland has a slight edge in this one.
