Following an emphatic victory on TNF, the Cleveland Browns are going to finish with a better record than the Pittsburgh Steelers for the first time in 34 years.
With one of the league's best defenses, Cleveland has been good all year, but has taken off since well-known divisional foe Joe Flacco took over at QB.
And following another strong performance, not only did Flacco bury the Steelers, but he just shined a light on Kenny Pickett that he didn't need:
Joe Flacco Ties Kenny Pickett's Career TD total…In One Month
To be fair, there is context needed here.
Pickett hasn't played in nearly a month in his own right, so one could assume that his TD total would be higher had he played in the last 3 and 1/2 games.
But Flacco is 38 years old, and is fresh off the couch, generating a stint in Cleveland only because the team lost both Deshaun Watson and Dorian Thompson-Robinson to injury.
So to come into an offense that he had little familiarity with, after admitting that all he was doing was taking his kids to school, and light up the NFL is very impressive, and yet another feather that Kenny Pickett detractors will put into their cap.
But Flacco isn't dealing with the remnants of an inept offense by one of the worst coordinators the league has ever seen statistically. (Thanks Matt Canada)
He also isn't battling his third major injury of his career, and fresh off a surgery that hasn't even had the stitches fully heal yet.
That's not to make excuses for Pickett, as the injury concerns surrounding him are the biggest worry in my opinion, and the real talking point when it comes to whether or Pickett has a future in Pittsburgh.
So we'll see how things go with Pickett in year three. Hopefully, he remains healthy, the team adds another weapon on the perimeter, and a competent offensive coordinator.
Only then can we have a true reaction to what Pickett is, and what he will become.
But for now, it's clear that the injured Pickett just had salt rubbed in a fresh wound.
