The Kansas City Chiefs offense has been a hot topic of discussion for the NFL all season  long. The passing game lacks explosiveness we've seen in recent years, and the running back depth is lackluster behind Isiah Pacheco.

The latest NFL news gives the Chiefs an opportunity to sign a former 1,000-yard rusher.

The New York Jets just agreed to part ways with veteran RB Dalvin Cook. The Chiefs would make plenty of sense for him.

Pacheco is the clear starter in KC. He deserves the bell-cow spot. That being said, he's been banged up, especially over the final few weeks of the regular season.

Adding a proven runner behind him makes a ton of sense. Clyde Edwards-Helaire has not carved out a meaningful role this season, and Jerick McKinnon is on injured reserve. Both Edwards-Helaire and Pacheco have missed time due to injury this season, too.

Cook did not show many signs of production/upside with New York, but their offensive line and quarterback play are both among some of the worst in the entire league. He was set up to fail as a running back once Aaron Rodgers went down for the year in NY.

In seven NFL seasons, Cook has totaled 6,207 rushing yards and 47 rushing TDs, alongside 236 receptions. This season, he averaged just 3.2 yards per carry for the Jets, though.

Cook will be a cheap, veteran option for a contending team. The Chiefs may do their due diligence, considering their depth.
