The New Orleans Saints earned some headlines in Week 18. They dominated their rival Atlanta Falcons, 48-17, a game that could have ended 41-17 if not for a late-game decision by the team.
To clarify, the decision came from the players, themselves. With the win in hand, Saints teammates, sparked by backup QB Jameis Winston, decided to try to score one more touchdown with Jamaal Williams. New Orleans lined up in victory formation, then sneakily handed it off to Williams in order to get him his first TD of the season.
That decision caused quite the ripple. Falcons coach Arthur Smith went off on Saints HC Dennis Allen. Then, Allen proceeded to throw his team under the bus in his postgame comments and apologized to Atlanta for their late score. That being said, the players were passionate about their choice and made that clear after the win.
Jameis Winston's discussion about the matter was pure gold.

Winston was respectful, but he did not mince words, either. His passion and energy is the reason that many fans, teammates, and staff members have appreciated Winston in his time in black and gold.
He's always been a consummate teammate for the Saints, and his leadership, alongside others, to try to get a feel-good moment to cap off a frustrating campaign for a new player should be commended. A decision like that should not be frowned upon.
Other Saints players showed support for Winston, Williams, and the team's decision as well.
New Orleans needed more moments like this one this year. A major, emotional win against a division rival.
Instead, there were more negative moments on the Dennis Allen-led rollercoaster than uplifting instances. Now, the Saints sit at home during the playoffs for the third season in a row.

You would think that a 48-17 victory over your biggest rival would have no negatives for the winning coach. That's not the case for New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen. With the late-game drama in their victory over the Atlanta Falcons, Allen proved some things that fans have feared to be true over the […]
