Dallas Cowboys superstar Micah Parsons is going off on NFL officiating and is unlikely to stop at this point until things change. It might be what's needed to do right by him.
Postgame, Parsons made some damning remarks moments after the Cowboys' loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 16 where he essentially blamed officials of being biased against Dallas because they have the "Star in our helmet" and said "it's mind-blowing the things that are getting called and the positions we get put in." We covered his comments in an earlier post, including him saying "a lot of it is B.S."
However, Parsons doubled down by uploading a story on Instagram of a viral picture of him being blocked by two Dolphins linemen. In the photo, it looks like one lineman is holding his jersey from the numbers (questionable) while the other clearly has his hands to Parsons' face as he tries to get to Tua Tagovailoa.
"Free me dawg!!" The uploaded story reads. "Whatever I did to the officials I'm sorry!"
You hate to make it about officiating and I won't go as far as saying that's why the Cowboys lost the game on Christmas Eve. But that doesn't mean the treatment Parsons is receiving is fair. Sure, he's great, but how can you objectively watch his performances and conclude he hasn't been a victim of a single holding or hands to the face?
It's been well over two months now since he's drawn a flag, which is absolutely outrageous when you review the film. What's worse is you just know the Cowboys are pointing out to officiating crews before every game and they still refuse to throw the flag.
Parsons has suggested before the NFL is taking care of offenses because it's what sells and you know what, I'm not sure if he's right. I'm not buying into the idea that there's a bias against the Cowboys as he claims. I don't have an answer about the why he's being treated like this but all I know is it's gotta change.
I don't know what will come first, though. Justice for Parsons or what's worse, a potential fine for his comments. The NFL has the right to fine players and coaches for criticizing officiating after games as it happened with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier in the season. Myles Garrett, who is competing with Micah for Defensive Player of the Year, was also fined in December for making strong remarks against the zebras.
