It's time for the rest of the NFL to face reality when it comes to Bills QB Josh Allen

Early Tuesday morning, just hours after the Baltimore Ravens' dominant win against the San Francisco 49ers on Christmas night, USA Today's Jarrett Bell proclaimed that Lamar Jackson is the new favorite to win the NFL MVP.
Bell's proclamation came after 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, who was previously viewed as one of the favorites to win the award, had a disastrous night against the Ravens. Purdy threw four interceptions in San Francisco's loss.
From USA TODAY: Brock Purdy, MVP? Not so fast.
Lamar Jackson is your new favorite to win the NFL’s Most Valuable Player Award.
This was some of the significant fallout from the Baltimore Ravens’ 33-19 romp at Levi’s Stadium on Christmas night. While Purdy, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback, threw four interceptions for the first time in his young career, the Ravens’ star sparkled.
“I thought Lamar had an MVP performance tonight,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters afterward. “It takes a team to create a performance like that. But…to play at an MVP level, it takes a player to play that way. And Lamar was all over the field, doing everything.”
The NFL MVP conversation has centered around names like Purdy, Jackson, Jalen Hurts, and Dak Prescott.
Even 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is seemingly in the mix to win the award.
The player that isn't being mentioned that should be mentioned, however, is Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
Allen leads the NFL in total touchdowns with 40 (five more than Hurts, who is the next closest) thanks to his 27 passing touchdowns and 13 rushing touchdowns. He's also accounted for 4,191 total yards, which is only 21 yards fewer than Hurts (and more than Jackson, Purdy, and Prescott).
Additionally, Allen's QBR is 71.6, which is higher than Hurts (60.8), Prescott (71.5), and Jackson (63.0). Purdy is slightly ahead of Allen at 71.7.
Allen also still has a chance to lead the Bills to an AFC division title, too (though he'll need some help from the Ravens this week in their game against the Miami Dolphins).
Great stats, in the thick of the playoff race, and playing his best football down the stretch. Check, check, and check for Allen.
The only argument against Allen is his 15 interceptions, though Purdy has 11 and Hurts has 13 (Jackson has seven and Prescott has seven). It's a relevant stat, but it shouldn't preclude Allen from the MVP conversation.
It's still too early to proclaim that Allen should win the MVP award this season. The final couple of weeks have to play out. But it's clear that he should be in the conversation. And it's criminal that he's seemingly being left out of the mix by the national media.
