The Minnesota Vikings have been bitten once again. Shortly after getting star wideout Justin Jefferson from injury, the ailment bug has gotten to them again. This time, they have lost star tight end T.J. Hockenson.
According to multiple sources, Hockenson suffered a torn MCL and ACL against the Detroit Lions in Week 16. He will miss the rest of the season.
"Knowing T.J., the type of player he is, I'm absolutely looking forward to when we can get him back rolling and ready to have a great 2024 season."
— Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell on Hockenson
The hit wasn't pretty. Lions safety Kerby Joseph made hard contact with the tight end's leg at full speed. He up-ended Hockenson and, clearly, made caused some legitimate damage.
Hockenson was nearing 1,000 receiving yards on the season. He's been a key part of the Vikings offense this year.
Unfortunately, he was not their only serious injury from their matchup vs. Detroit.
Defensive lineman D.J. Wonnum suffered a torn quad and will go on injured reserve. He's not expected to return this season, either.
Wide receiver Jordan Addison also suffered a sprained ankle against the Lions. He's considered day-to-day, though. Hopefully, he can return at full strength soon for Minnesota.
Overall, it was a costly loss for the Vikings' chances at the playoffs and a push during them.
