Mark Andrews has been sidelined since he suffered a reported cracked fibula and ankle ligament injury during the Baltimore Ravens’ home game against the Cincinnati Bengals last month. He sustained the ailments after being on the end of a hip-drop tackle from Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson during the first quarter of the divisional contest.

There was initial concern that Andrews would be ruled out for the remainder of the season due to his injuries, but Ravens head coach John Harbaugh did later note that there "might be an outside chance" that the three-time Pro Bowler could return to action during the ongoing campaign.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Harbaugh took some time to touch on Andrews’ injury recovery process.

"I’ve heard of no setbacks," Harbaugh said. "I think [Mark Andrews] is on schedule as far as I’ve heard. Maybe a little ahead of schedule—I don’t know really if that’s accurate to say. But I’ve seen him in there working, and he’s in great spirits."

Andrews was placed on the injured reserve list before the Ravens’ road matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. He is now eligible to be activated off the injured reserve list, but he is not expected to feature in the Ravens’ upcoming home matchups against the Miami Dolphins and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Harbaugh is hoping to see the Ravens pull off a deep playoff run in order to provide Andrews with an opportunity to return to the field.

"Our job is to get to that point," Harbaugh said. "That’s what we have to do is get to the point where we’re still playing when he comes back, and it’s going to take everything we have."

For now, the Ravens will continue to call on Isaiah Likely to fill in for Andrews at the tight end position. Likely has recorded 338 receiving yards and two touchdown catches this season.
