Former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Eric Allen is one step closer to getting the kind of recognition that he deserves.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced its finalists for the 2024 class and Allen is one of 15 modern-era finalists.
Allen kicked off his NFL career in 1988 as a second-round pick (30th overall) out of Arizona State by the Eagles.
During his first seven seasons with the Birds, Allen logged 34 interceptions through 110 games. He only ever missed one game while playing for the Eagles and still holds the franchise record for the most interceptions by a rookie (five).
After his time in Philly, Allen spent three years playing for the Saints and four more with the Raiders before retiring in 2001.
In his 14-year NFL career, Allen was a six-time Pro Bowler, a first-team All-Pro, and totaled 54 interceptions (21st in NFL history) for 827 yards and eight pick-6s. He also recovered seven fumbles, one for a score, for nine total defensive touchdowns.
Allen was inducted into the Eagles' Hall of Fame in 2011, and it’s now time for him to join the best of the best in Canton.
The other 2024 finalists are Jared Allen, Antonio Gates, Rodney Harrison, Willie Anderson, Dwight Freeney, Devin Hester, Torry Holt, Darren Woodson, Fred Taylor, Jahri Evans, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, Julius Peppers and Patrick Willis.
The Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will be announced at the NFL Honors show on Feb. 8 in Las Vegas.
