After Frank Reich empowered offensive coordinator Thomas Brown with play-calling duties, questions abounded regarding the future dynamic of the team.
On Monday, Frank Reich explained what the team's offense will look like in Week 8 against the Houston Texans and who will be in charge.
“Thomas and I had another good discussion this morning just about the transition and about philosophy and our approach this week, in general,” Reich said. "With every day, I feel great about it. Thomas is ready. It’ll be an organic thing. There’s still going to be a lot of collaboration."
The Panthers have struggled under Reich's play-calling strategy. The offense was stagnant, and the rookie quarterback struggled. Something had to give. And with a new play-calling, Bryce Young said he is "excited."
Still, will Reich be able to step back and really allow Brown to call the plays? So far, he is saying and doing the right things that indicate he will.
“Thomas is gonna be in charge," Reich said. "It’s not gonna be micromanaged. The staff will contribute like they do, but Thomas will be — his personality and his decision-making will be the play-by-play decisions. What we do as a game-planning process—that will still stay the same as it’s been.”
