The Dallas Cowboys are on a bye week, which is great news for a team that urgently needs to tweak its offense if it wants to get where it needs to get.

However, that means a little bit of a change of plans for Cowboys fans this weekend. You know the feeling. Not really knowing which games to watch and who to root for and maybe even getting bored (this problem is not applicable to sports bettors, of course).

That's why I put together a bye week guide and preview for Cowboys fans focusing on the three biggest games that can indirectly impact the team's playoff chances and seeding scenarios. They're not in chronological order but rather relevancy.

MIA Dolphins vs PHI Eagles, Sunday 8:25 p.m. ET

Do you know what would be better than last week's Eagles' loss to the New York Jets? A second consecutive loss! There's a very real chance that might happen on Sunday Night Football.

This is a showdown of top-tier NFL teams. On one hand, the Eagles like to out-physical opponents with their advantage in the trenches and dynamic running game. On the other, the Dolphins just want to outrun you. And boy, do they have the speed to do it.

In order to defeat Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, the Eagles' secondary will need to display top-notch discipline and communication. They're just too fast and that's led to them being one of the most productive offenses of all time through six weeks of the season.

I'm taking the Dolphins on this one. I'm aware it'll be close and the Eagles will be able to run against Vic Fangio's defense. But I'm betting on the explosiveness you get from an offense led by MVP frontrunner Tua Tagovailoa and Coach of the Year candidate Mike McDaniel.

SF 49ers vs MIN Vikings, Monday 8:15 p.m. ET

Everything can happen in the NFL, as the 49ers' loss to P.J. Walker and the Cleveland Browns reminded us earlier in the month. There's one slight problem, however: The Vikings don't have the best defense in the NFL, just like the Browns do.

The Vikings' best chance in this game will be if the Niners' injury concerns become a more tangible reality. Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, and Trent Williams all missed practice on Thursday. However, it's likely they get at least some of them.

Could the Vikings catch the 49ers on a slow day? Maybe. Brock Purdy isn't afraid to push the ball downfield, which could present some turnover opportunities. I just don't see Minessota keeping up with such a talented roster.

  • Prediction: 49ers 30, Vikings 20

Commanders vs Giants, Sunday 1:00 p.m. ET

This is a low-stakes scenario compared to the two above, but Cowboys Nation should have an interest since it's an NFC East showdown. This is one of those where you would much rather have the lower-record team win to eat into the other's record.

The Commanders are quietly a 3-3 squad and the Giants (1-5) could slow them down by handing them a divisional loss. The Cowboys have enough to worry about with the Eagles and 49ers. They don't want Washington to suddenly be another team in the NFC East race if they get to 4-3.

That being said, I'm picking Washington to win this one despite the Giants' surprising effort against the Buffalo Bills last Sunday. I just think they've got the better defense and the Giants are navigating multiple injuries.

  • Prediction: Commanders 20, Giants 13
