Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers reached the end zone for the first time in his NFL career on Sunday.
Lamar Jackson connected with Flowers for a 10-yard touchdown in the second quarter of the Ravens’ 24-16 win over the Tennessee Titans. Flowers ran a slant route on a crucial second down play in the red zone, and in the end, Tennessee's defense watched as the rookie wideout waltzed into the end zone.
Flowers was all smiles after the game as he watched his first career touchdown reception.
Flowers was one of Jackson’s go-to targets against the Titans. The former Boston College standout was targeted eight times in the contest, and he hauled in six catches for 50 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
Overall, Flowers has tallied 35 receptions for 367 receiving yards in his ongoing rookie campaign. He may not be among the current favorites for this season’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, but he sure has what it takes to soon emerge as a serious contender for the honor.
With the Ravens’ eight-point win against Tennessee, they now sit in first place in the AFC North standings with a 4-2 record.
