The San Francisco 49ers will prepare for a primetime clash with the Minnesota Vikings after suffering not only their first defeat of the season but also a spate of injuries to key players.

San Francisco saw Trent Williams, Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey injured in a 19-17 defeat to the Cleveland Browns.

They got positive updates on All-Pro left tackle Williams (ankle) and wide receiver Samuel (shoulder) on Monday, with both players day to day, though there is still doubt as to that exact nature of do-it-all running back McCaffrey's oblique/rib issue.

It remains to be seen if any of the trio will be available to play in Minnesota on Monday Night Football.

Despite the concern around three of their most important players, the 49ers are anticipated by the oddsmakers to prevail and improve to 6-1.

The 49ers are seven-point road favorites for their first regular-season at U.S. Bank Stadium since the 2018 season.

Minnesota is 2-4 coming off a 19-13 win over a Chicago Bears team that did not have quarterback Justin Fields for much of the contest.

The Vikings played the Kansas City Chiefs close in their last home game and, even without Justin Jefferson, have the talent to do damage in the passing game with Kirk Cousins at quarterback. On the other side of the ball, Brock Purdy can expect to have to deal with a succession of blitzes from Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores.

Yet there is a clear talent gap between the teams even with three of San Francisco's stars nursing injuries, and that is reflected by the spread. If the Niners get more positive updates on any of Williams, Samuel or McCaffrey in the week, then the spread will likely only get larger.
