The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the only team in the NFC South that sits at 3-1.

Sure, the Saints are about to get their third win with the demolition of the Patriots, but it isn't the same as where the Bucs sit on their bye.

The NFC South runs through Tampa. This has been the case for a few years now, and it shows no signs of changing just yet either.

As much as Tampa's rivals and the rest of the NFL as a whole were ready to write the Buccaneers off, it isn't happening just yet.

Tom Brady is gone. Key players on both sides of the ball have departed or left the team due to injuries. None of that matters.

Good teams find ways to adapt and stay in control of their own destinies, and that is exactly what the Buccaneers have done.

The Falcons came into the season with a head coach that was a favorite for Coach of the Year. The Panthers had the number one pick in the draft under center. The Saints had one of the best defenses in football and gave a ton of money to Derek Carr in free agency. The belief was that the Bucs would fall off.

It looks like people will have to keep waiting for that fall to actually happen.

Tampa easily defeated the Saints, and the Panthers and Falcons both look terrible through the first quarter of the season. Expecting any of those three to be the favorites as of now is silly.

If you want to become the favorite in the division to make the playoffs, you have to beat the Bucs first, and it doesn't seem like that is going to happen anytime soon with the balanced attack and dominant defense that we've seen from Tampa.
