After a Sunday afternoon loss to the Detroit Lions, the Carolina Panthers sit winless, 0-5, as the end of October trade deadline is looming.

The Panthers have been in the market for a wide receiver, whom the franchise believes can change the offense's fate. Bryce Young has looked more bad than good. And the typically stout Panthers' defense broke down against the Lions.

Following the game, Panthers head coach Frank Reich encouraged the team to answer a question it has yet to come close to figuring out: Who are the Panthers going to be moving forward?

"I never waver in my belief in what we’re doing and how we’re doing it and what it takes to win," Reich said. "We say it over, and over: [We've] been through situations like this before and got out of situations like this before. I know, I’ve seen it. I’ve seen it in teams I’ve been on. I’ve seen it in other teams."

Sunday featured another slow Panthers offensive start. Once the game was out of reach, Bryce Young finally got going again. He threw for three touchdowns, but before late in the second half, Young had thrown two interceptions and doomed much of the Panthers' chances in a game that got out of reach quickly.

Yet, somehow, Reich remains optimistic about the direction of the team, saying that the team merely needs to figure out its identity and fast.

“It’s not easy," he said. "And there’s no guarantees. There’s no guarantees it turns, when and why you want it to turn. So, that’s really the essence of who are we gonna be? And are we gonna keep fighting? And are we gonna keep pounding?”

The Panthers may keep pounding, but until they make a change, wins will still be few and far between. What needs to change is the roster and the help around Young.
