The good news kept on coming for the 49ers a day after their blowout win over the Cowboys.
San Francisco's sole injury concern coming out of the 42-10 victory over Dallas was an apparent bicep injury to starting left guard Aaron Banks.
After the game, Kyle Shanahan said the 49ers believed it to be a high bicep injury, rather than a low bicep injury that could have led to a long-term absence.
But there was an even more positive update on Monday in Shanahan's conference call with local media.
Shanahan revealed Banks suffered a mild shoulder strain and is day to day
Banks gave up three pressures against the Cowboys, per Pro Football Focus. He did the same against the Giants in Week 3 but has otherwise been faultless, posting a clean sheet in each of the Niners other three matchups this season.
In the run game, Banks' mobility at 325 pounds has played a pivotal role in the progression of a run game that blends a mix of inside and outside zone with gap scheme runs.
Shanahan's update suggests Banks should be back in the near future. If he cannot play this week against the Browns, veteran Jon Feliciano will likely step in at left guard as he did against Dallas.
Feliciano did not allow a pressure in 11 pass block snaps in relief.
The 49ers’ most spectacular highlight against Cowboys was years in the making
Patience truly is a virtue.
