With Anthony Richardson's recent injury, the Indianapolis Colts have made a move at QB.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz shared that the Colts have signed former 3rd round pick Kellen Mond to their practice squad.
Mond was a part of a QB workout the Colts held on Tuesday, and he seems to have impressed the team the most out of the group, as he has now been signed. The Minnesota Vikings drafted Kellen Mond with the 66th pick in the 3rd round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Since being drafted, he's only appeared in one regular season NFL game, where he completed two of his three pass attempts for a total of five yards.
Mond would only last a single season with the Vikings as he would be waived on August 30th of 2022 and would be claimed by the Cleveland Browns. He'd never take a regular-season snap with the Browns before he was waived and assigned to their practice squad this offseason. Before he was released by the team on August 31st of this year. Mond spent his college years at Texas A&M, where he threw for 9,661 yards, 71 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions.
He now joins a QB room with Gardner Minshew and Sam Ehlinger while Anthony Richardson is sidelined with a shoulder injury. While Mond is on the practice squad for now, he is almost certain to be called up this week to operate as the team's "emergency third QB."
