How healthy will the Dolphins' running game be?
With De'Von Achane on injured reserve, Jeff Wilson, Jr. having not yet played while being on injured reserve to start the season, and Connor Williams and Robert Hunt both banged up, can Miami's ground game be as dominant as it's been so far this season? The absence of Williams against Buffalo was evident, as Liam Eichenberg struggled in his place.
However, the Panthers are getting gashing on the ground this year, allowing 4.9 yards per carry. That's fifth worst in the NFL. As such, where a formidable Buffalo defense was able to take advantage of a less than 100% Miami offensive line, the Panthers might not be able to do the same.
3 players to watch
Andrew Van Ginkel
Vic Fangio talked some this week about Van Ginkel's flexibility and ability to play more inside, which makes sense because he's simply has been playing too well to take off the field. He has to continue to play, and Miami might have to make a hard decision regarding a current starting linebacker somewhere in order to accommodate that.
Whichever Dolphins cornerback is on Adam Thielen
As Thielen has gone this year, so has gone the Panthers' passing game. He leads the Panthers with 38 catches for 394 yards and 3 touchdowns. Shut him down, and Young is going to lose his security blanket and be a duck in the pocket for the Dolphins' pass rush.
Miami's offensive tackles against Brian Burns
Carolina's prolific edge rusher is a difference-maker for the Panthers' defense. He will line up on both sides, so this is more than just a one-on-one matchup for Kendall Lamm on the left side. Both he and Austin Jackson will presumably face off against the Panthers' star. Have to keep him from making too many negative plays that can give Carolina a puncher's chance on Sunday.
