One NFL coach’s lofty comparison should have the Miami Dolphins eager to extend LB Jordyn Brooks
Miami Dolphins LB Jordyn Brooks was voted as one of the best linebackers in football — but it’s the comparison that really jumps off the screen.
Miami Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks is sensational. I don’t need to tell you that if you watched a single game of the Dolphins’ 2024 or 2025 campaigns.
The former first-round draft selection should be considered a home run signing for the Dolphins. Now, the question is whether his time in South Florida will be extended beyond his initial three-year contract. This is scheduled to be the final year of his current deal. Fresh off a First-Team All-Pro selection, Brooks was voted among the 10 best linebackers in all of football (7th, to be exact) by scouts, coaches, and executives. But it’s the comparison one coach made to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler about Brooks that says the most.

I’m not going to lie. I hadn’t tracked a Jordyn Brooks/Demario Davis comparison before for myself. But I like it. A lot!
Davis spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns before landing with the New Orleans Saints as a 29-year old veteran. And it was at this point that his career absolutely exploded. He posted five consecutive seasons with first or second team All-Pro honors between 2019 and 2023. And Davis continued to be a force into his mid-30s. As recently as last year in New Orleans, Davis was an impact starter. He’s since signed on for a third stint with the Jets for 2026.
I can see the parallels, which bodes well for Brooks’ outlook as just starting to settle into the prime of his career. And if that means the next five seasons of Brooks’ career will be his best, as was the case with Davis, then the Miami Dolphins don’t have much to think about regarding a potential extension. It would need to be done expeditiously.
