Stacking momentum
With Week 7 being a bye and two huge matchups against the San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills to follow, the importance of this game for the Bengals cannot go understated. The Seahawks are one of the better teams in the league and will not be a pushover by any means. Entering the gauntlet ahead of them at 3-3 just looks significantly better than 2-4. Head coach Zac Taylor said he wants his team to "stack momentum" off last week's victory. Getting to .500 at the bye would be a huge boost.
3 Bengals players to watch
- WR Ja'Marr Chase: How does one follow 192 yards and three touchdowns? Chase just has that performance in his bag. The third-year player is on pace to achieve his goal of breaking the Bengals' single season receptions record of 112. Chase might want 113 in this game alone if he gets the chance to go up against rookie Devon Witherspoon, who D.K. Metcalf claimed earlier this week "will get the best of him." Chase takes trash talk gracefully, but motivation is motivation.
- LT Orlando Brown Jr.: Seattle's pass rush proved to be potent in their last game against the New York Giants. The Seahawks move their edges from side to side, so the Bengals' $64 million left tackle will get exposure to both Boye Mafe and Uchenna Nwosu, both of whom have 12 pressures and two sacks on the year. Brown has been serviceable as Cincinnati's left tackle so far, he will need to be near dominant in this game.
- S Jordan Battle: Last week was the potential beginning of Battle's ascension. The rookie played 22 snaps for starter Nick Scott throughout the game and had his moments. He'll continue to get looks in a rotation to see which option next to Dax Hill at safety is better. The Seahawks' passing offense will be a tough matchup for Battle and the entire Bengals secondary.
